PUNE:
Over 300 participants gathered at Mula Mutha river side at Kalyani Nagar Bridge
on Sunday morning to clean up the river and the surrounding. As a part of 'The 2012 Clean World Movement', initiated by a global welfare organisation named the 'WeLoveU Foundation, the cleanliness drive took place at 2,200 locations in
around 150 countries across all continents on Sunday.
The International WeLoveU Foundation is proceeding with
the environmental clean-up and welfare activities worldwide. The local members
of WeLoveU Foundation of each country
from Korea, North America, South
America, Europe, Asia, Oceania and Africa, gathered on Sunday to clean the
streets, parks, rivers, coastlines, gardens and so on.
“In our country too the clean-up activities were carried
out on a large scale at different locations at the same time. The volunteers in Pune started the campaign at 8 am from Agakhan Palace and by 10.30 am around 360 volunteers joined the drive. They collected trash and debris like empty bottles,
cigarette butts, wrapping papers and scraps. Around two tonnes of garbage was
collected within two hours. Employees,
workers, university students and housewives along with their families took part
in the drive,” said Anita Mathews of the foundation.
Under the guidance of foundation's chairperson Zahng Gil-Jah the campaign was successfully conducted in various countries. She
believes that though everyone is busy with daily work, if many people put little
time and little efforts in this activity at the same time, the whole world can
be cleaned, Anita added.

I believe we can leave the clean earth to descendants if all of us actively participate in the activities like ones that Intl. WeLoveU Foundation is leading.
